Alberto Marani

By far some of the most interesting prints I've seen.  Incidentally these interior photo's were taken from the pope's private residence in Rome.

I came across Alberto Marani in the NYtimes magazine in 2010.  I thought his work was some of the best work with digitaly printed fabric then, and in the last few years I still believe his work holds up as the best.  With the increased availability of digital printing for fabric the fashion market has been flooded with garments using florals and other images from nature.  Most of these prints are quite nice, yet usually fall into a fairly predictable layout and aesthetic.
These deconstructed prints by Alberto Marani were taken from the interiors of of the vatican.  It's banal in a cheecky way, even if the garments them selves are quite serious.  The ability to integrate the images with out appearing as though they were slapped on, or decorating the usual zones (neck, hem, cuffs) is design perfection to me.
