Best "Chandelier" ever

Usually when I see a chandelier I think of canopy beds and 'cottage chic'….folowed by over exaggerated eye roll.

Here in Chicago it's rare that you have a stylish and warm coat at the same time.  The winters here pretty much determine that you remain in an unsightly puffer coat until March.  Here are a few coats I wouldn't mind getting through the next few months in.

It's amazing how far the sophistication of digital prints has come.  I have a feeling that digital prints will be what defines most of the 2000's when we look back someday.  Below is a great print top by Ellery.

Science Sneakers

The company Rayfish  has gotten quite a bit of attention lately as they have been shortlisted for the Dutch Design Awards.  Rayfish claims that customers can personalize their very own sting ray skin sneakers via genetic engineering by the company.  Scientist at Utah State pointed out that there is no such technology, yet, that would give anyone the ability to control the markings on stingray skin.  The company debuted the sneakers at Dutch Design Week, but there was quite a bit of speculation that the coloring of the skin had looked painted on.  As a concept its pretty rad.

This came from the site, Nano Supermarket, which showcases some of the most inspired designs meant to speculate on the future uses for nanotech products with the possibility of hitting shelves within the next decade. Visit this site now!  It's an incredible exorcise in creativity in design.

End this Trend

I would like to propose that the very current trend of wearing a sheer skirt/pant end now.  The transparent top layer trend is problematic for a few reasons.  for starters it usually employs a fairly safe silhouette or uninspired style lines, yet comes across as new and different due to it's 'sheer' shock value. Do not let this fool you, this is a design crutch holding up unresolved design decisions.  Working with translucent fabrics offers great opportunity to play with negative space,  line, and depth.  However, simply layering one on top of designer undies does not accomplish this.
